What is Signals Gateway
Signals Gateway allows you to send first-party data to Meta (and other ad platforms) using a server-side tracking approach. Using Signals Gateway has been shown to decrease CPA by 23%, making your ad spend more efficient and maximizing return on investment. Learn more about all benefits here.
This guide will walk you through the full setup process for configuring the Signals Gateway Pixel, setting up the data destination to Meta, and routing data via your domain.
Step 1. Create Gateway
Option 1: If you don’t have a Bïrch account.
Go to the sign-up page, create your Bïrch account, confirm your email and set up your company.
Create your first gateway - it's name is automatically pre-filled with your company name from the previous step; enter the location where most of your customers are based:
You will receive the email with the link to the gateway to finish the setup.
Once you completed the setup using the link in the email, you can manage your Gateway in Bïrch Hub:
Option 2: If you already have a Bïrch account.
Log in to your Bïrch account.
Navigate to Integrations page and click + Create first gateway:
Then complete all the steps as described in the sections above.
Step 2. Configure Signals Gateway pipeline
The link from the email or Gateway Details will take you to the Meta interface where you'll set up a pipeline for data tracking via Signal Gateway Pixel.
Enter the email address used for your Bïrch account and set a password. Click Create Account:
You will gain access to your Signals Gateway environment. Click on Create data pipeline to proceed.
Select Signals Gateway pipeline:
Set up data pipeline: choose a name for the pipeline and select Signals Gateway Pixel as a data source, and Meta as a data destination.
Additionally, you can send data to Google BigQuery or your data warehouse for detailed analysis and use advanced analytics for deeper insights.
Set up Signals Gateway Pixel: enter a name for your new pixel and specify whether your website has a Meta Pixel.
If your website sends events to a Meta dataset, it already has a Meta Pixel installed.
Add Signals Gateway Pixel and events codes.
At this stage, you can also connect pixel data using partners like Shopify, and follow special instructions for this case. For a standard setup, select "none" and proceed with one of the options below:
Option 1: Send Instructions to a Web Developer.Click "Copy Instructions", then share them with your developer.
Option 2: Install Signals Gateway Pixel Yourself.
Copy and paste the base code into your website.
Set up conversion events by defining event names and tagging them in your code.
After you click Continue you will see that you’ve successfully started the setup for your Signals Gateway Pixel:
Now you have a full tracking system that relies both on Signal Gateway Pixel and Meta Pixel. This combination is the recommended for maximum accuracy of data.Connect to Meta with Conversions API.
Option 1: Connect Meta dataset by using Facebook Login.
Or by entering information from your Events Manager dataset:
Option 2: Select existing Meta dataset from Signals Gateway.
Step 3. Connect a Domain for Data Routing
We also recommend enhancing tracking performance by connecting a custom domain for optimizing data routing within your Signals Gateway.
Navigate to "Account Settings" → "Data Routing" → "Optimize".
Note down the subdomain and domain names.
In the next step, you'll configure DNS settings for the custom domain. Ensure you have access to your DNS provider to make the necessary changes before proceeding.
Manage Team Access to Gateway
If you'd like to add a team member to the Gateway, click Users:
Enter an email of the team member you are going to invite. They will receive an email invitation to the gateway.
Manage Gateway in Bïrch
You can manage existing Gateways and add new ones on the Gateways page:
Select the Gateway in the list to access the list of events associated with it:

And that's it - you've successfully integrated Signals Gateway with Bïrch. Now the tracking data is stored on your own server, and is seamlessly transferred to Meta and other destinations without any loss ⚡️
